THE NEED
Anne Arundel is one of the wealthiest counties in America. It is also home to more than 10,000 children growing up in poverty.
And the number is climbing. In a single year, it went from more than 1,200 to 9,060 children in 2023. Statewide, nearly 151,000 Maryland children live in poverty.
Here, hardship is easy to miss. Rent has risen faster in Anne Arundel than anywhere else in Maryland, and nearly half of the state’s renters now spend more than a third of their income on housing alone. When the paycheck goes to rent, the coat, the school shoes and the winter boots are what get cut.
Caring Hearts finds the children the numbers leave out — the ones flagged by their schools, their social workers and their neighbors — and delivers exactly what they need. No overhead, no red tape. Just neighbors taking care of neighbors.
BY THE NUMBERS
What your support has done.
Every figure here is a real child who didn’t go without.
101
children given a full Christmas in 2025
3X
more kids served than the year before

OUR GROWTH
From one tree to a year-round promise.
Two years, three programs, the same kitchen-table promise.
2024
The first Angel Tree
34 local children each received a winter coat, boots, pajamas, a blanket and the toy they asked for.
2025
Three times the reach
Angel Tree grew to 101 children in a single year, as word spread and more neighbors stepped up.
2026
Two new programs
Summer Angels sent 32 kids into summer ready, and we began outfitting students at a local Title I school.
WHERE IT GOES
What your gift becomes.
No office. No payroll. The only thing we spend on ourselves is the coffee at board meetings. Everything else gets spent on a child.
A warm winter
A coat that fits, boots, pajamas and a blanket for a child facing the cold.
A fresh start
A full school uniform, so a kid walks in on day one looking like everyone else.
A real summer
A bathing suit, a towel, sunscreen and sandals, so no child sits out the season.

"Caring Hearts gives me a meaningful way to help children in need. Our support is tangible, and our fundraisers put the FUN in fundraising!"
